Welcome at the German Pavilion!
For the first time an official German Pavilion is set up at Indopack/Indoplas/Indoprint 2012 in Jakarta. 14 German exhibitors are presenting their range of delivery and service solutions for the food processing and packaging industry, plastic and rubber industry, paper and printing industry as well as current trends.
Packaging Machinery
For the German manufacturer of packaging machinery Indonesia is the most important sales market in South East Asia. The country with its 239 million inhabitants has emerged as one of the fastest growing food and beverage market in this region. This growth is attributed to various factors such as economic growth, increasing urbanization and a rapid growing population.
Realizing the immense growth potential, several international players in the food and beverage industry have established facilities in Indonesia to penetrate this market. The bright sales outlook make local and international companies expand their production capacities and invest strongly in modern technology. State-of-the-art automation technology is needed to improve the efficiency of the enterprises. Rising quality requirements and a growing health awareness make modern machinery and technologies indispensable for processing and packaging.
Disposable incomes of private households are rising and doubled during last five years. With an increasing purchasing power the interest of the growing middle class in modern consumption forms and lifestyle is as well rising. This boosts also the demand for processed and packaged food.
The demand for packed food and beverages is reflected in the import figures for packaging machinery. In 2010, Indonesia imported packaging machinery worth €210 million.
Germany is Indonesia's most important trading partner. In the first eleven months of 2011 German manufacturer delivered packaging machinery worth €66 mio. to Indonesia.
Plastics and rubber machinery
In Indonesia the use of plastics is increasing tremendously. The construction industry, an important key market for plastics products, is expanding by approx. seven percent per annum. The packaging industry, too, is an important customer for the plastics industry. The growing use of plastic packaging makes the demand for polypropylene (PP) grow considerably. According to estimates, more than 40 percent of this is used for the manufacture of plastic foil. Market research reckons that the favourable market development in the automotive sector and the electronics industry will make the PP consumption rise further until 2014.
The demand for products made of rubber and plastics is mirrored by the rising demand for rubber and plastics machinery. Indonesia imported machinery and plant for €70 million in 2010. With a supply ratio of 18 percent, Germany is one of the foremost machinery suppliers. Within the first eleven months of 2011, the German manufacturers exported rubber and plastics machinery with a value of €50 million to Indonesia.
Paper and printing machinery
The enterprises of the Indonesian paper and cardboard industry are continuing to position themselves on the world market. The rising demand in the country and also the export opportunities make the paper manufacturers expand their capacities. The printing industry also invests in machinery upgrades. The demand for printing and paper machinery is thus increasing further. In 2010 Indonesia imported machinery and plant for paper and printing technology with a value of €289 million. The demand for up-to-date machinery is increasing further. Within the first eleven months of 2011, the German manufacturers exported printing and paper technology with a value of approx. €58 million. This means an increase of almost eight percent.
A visit to the German pavilion at the Indopack / Indoplas / Indopack 2012, Jakarta, will offer a good opportunity to Indonesian companies to meet the foremost manufacturers of packaging machinery, plastics and rubber machinery as well as paper and printing machinery and to find information on the latest developments and trends.
The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and VDMA (German Engineering Federation) wish you an agreeable stay and a successful visit to this presentation.
